Sumikaze — Privacy Policy. Last updated: 3 September 2026.

This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, and what rights you have. We are the "data controller" for that data.

What we collect

When you order: name, delivery and billing address, email, phone (if given), and order details.
Payment: handled entirely by Shopify Payments and PayPal. We never see or store your full card number.
When you contact us: your name, email, and whatever's in your message.
When you sign up to emails: your email address and consent record.
Automatically: basic device and usage data through cookies and analytics (see "Cookies").

Why we use it, and our lawful basis

To take payment, fulfil and deliver your order, and provide support — performance of a contract.
To send marketing emails — your consent, which you can withdraw any time via the unsubscribe link.
To keep records for tax and accounting, and to prevent fraud — legal obligation and legitimate interests.
To understand and improve how the site is used — legitimate interests (and consent for non-essential cookies).

Who we share it with

Only the providers we need to run the shop: Shopify (store and checkout), our order-fulfilment and supplier partners for dispatch, the delivery carrier, our email marketing provider, and analytics/advertising services such as Meta and Google. Each processes your data on our instructions. We never sell your data.

Where your data is held

Some of these providers are based outside the UK. Where that's the case, transfers are protected by UK-approved safeguards (such as the International Data Transfer Agreement or an adequacy decision).

How long we keep it

Order and transaction records for 6 years (UK tax law). Marketing contacts until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete you. Support emails for up to 2 years.

Your rights

You can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, or provide it in a portable format. Email sumikazepets@gmail.com and we'll respond within one month.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).

Cookies

We use essential cookies to make the site and checkout work, and — with your consent — cookies from analytics and advertising services to measure traffic and show relevant ads. You can accept, reject, or manage non-essential cookies from the banner when you first visit, and change your mind any time in your browser settings.
